Most of the pictures in this webpage were
take within a hundred feet of my house. Buckthorn is an aggressive and
devastating invasive species of plant which is almost impossible to get
rid of once it takes hold. The following are images that may help you

Typical scene in the buckthorn battlefield. Large stalks of buckthorn
surrounded by a thick ground cover of their little offspring, choking
out all other plant growth
Grey skin of large Buckthorn showing the light identifying streaks
Photo of a seedling.
Branches are ALMOST straight across from each other (red
arrows). Most
species are alternating evenly spaced or DIRECTLY across from each
other.
Tear drop shape, veins and rough edges of the leaf can all be clearly
seen in this image.
