Wood Chips

When we are chipping our brush we generate large amounts of wood chips. Initially our wood lot was full of weeds and dirt, we used the chips to level the lot and keep the weeds down. But as time went on we ran out of places to put the chips on such a small wood lot. It was only a 1 acre lot. Several landscapers and contractors contacted us (as well as neighbors) to obtain wood chips for use as pathways, flower gardens and to put on newly seeded areas. This provided us an outlet for our ... waste (brush).  All money made by the woodlot goes to help offset the labor cost of maintaining the lot. So this was another one of the undiscovered treasures we found.

UPDATE: Now that Aaron has gone to work at the fence company we have taken a new direction for the company. One person can not do all the aspects of the company we used to. One function we have changed is not chipping our own brush. Instead we take it to the brush dump. This means that we have little or no chips at our new wood lot. Those that we do have are use to cover our land. On occasion we do make orders for wood chips but nothing like we used to.

New Chipper

Maybe the title says new but it is the old chipper but the picture is when it was our new chipper... does this make any sense? Aaron proudly be the new chipper.

Proud Pile

Aaron was proud of this pile of chips. But little did we realize it was a drop in the bucket of what was to come.

Early Days

When Landon Tree And Stump Removal Service first started we thought this was a big pile of wood chips!

Original Chipper

We drove to the middle of Illinois to get this beauty. But hey ... it works!

Chips

As the company grows, so does the chip pile. This is after spreading them all over the ground.

Moving The Pile

We moved the chip pile to find the best method of bringing in brush and chipping. But the pile continued to grow.

Winter

We worked even in the winter. Spring is when the landscapers came for chips.

Old Chipper

The old chipper in the old woodlot

Aaron!

Don't try this at home kid... and don't let mom catch you doing this Aaron!

Lucky

Yeah, counting toes huh?

Average Pile

We actually had a lot bigger pile of chips
