GOODS FROM THE WOODS!

Looking for a Unique idea for storing firewood?

Arlene

Arlene had a medium sized stump in her front yard from a tree she had removed some time ago. Another tree service while doing a stump next door provide a bid that was extremely high to simply come next door and grind her stump. The winter this year (2006-2007) has been very mild with little to no snow and getting into the 40 degrees some days. The stump grinding "season" has been extended, so we were able to do this one IN JANUARY!

GETTING STARTED

With mild weather all fall and winter so far, we have been able to continue grinding stumps well beyound the norm. This picture is taken on JANUARY 8, 2007 and it was 38 degrees (the first day of a cold snap) !!

TANGLED UP

Grinding stumps this fall we have tangled the grinding wheel up with vines and weeds that normally would not have been a problem. It is time to free the wheel up before we get started.

THE STUMP

The tree was cut down some time ago but the stump was not removed. It was a soft stump except one root. But the sap had already started to run in the wood!!

LOTS OF ROOTS

There were seveeral major roots that extended around the stump past the protective screen. I had to sacrafice my body to prevent the chips from being scattered all over the yard.

ALMOST DONE

Just the last of the roots on the back side of the stump.
